EPIC GAMES

I reimagined the Epic Games logo to create a stronger connection with the gaming community. While the original design was clean, it didn’t fully capture the distinct identity expected from a gaming software company. My goal was to design a logo that not only reflected the company’s name but also resonated more deeply with gamers. This project challenged me to develop a mark that could stand alongside the existing brand while incorporating elements that speak directly to its audience.

MOODBOARD

For the moodboard section of my Epic Games rebrand, I wanted to explore a deeper meaning behind the word Epic. Instead of just focusing on the company's existing identity, I drew inspiration from the original definition—a long narrative poem about legendary heroes and their adventures. Since Epic Games caters to gamers, incorporating this storytelling aspect into the logo felt like a fitting direction.

I researched The Epic of King Arthur and The Odyssey, both legendary tales of heroism and adventure. While both offered strong visual inspiration, I ultimately leaned toward the King Arthur aesthetic. The moodboard reflects this direction, incorporating medieval iconography, rich colors, and visual elements that capture the essence of these legendary tales. This foundation helped shape my final logo design, bringing in the sense of adventure and heroism that defines an epic.

Initial Sketches

Here are some of my initial sketches where I explored both narrative directions. I also considered incorporating the Sword in the Stone myth as an icon but ultimately decided to focus on the crown as the central element.

FINALIZED LOGO

The final logo design takes inspiration from the legendary themes explored in my research, culminating in a refined crown logomark for the E in Epic Games. To complement the crown’s aesthetic, I crafted a typographic treatment for Epic that aligns with its bold, heroic feel while keeping Games in a neutral, rounded sans-serif font. This balance ensures a cohesive look that feels both modern and rooted in the epic narratives that inspired it.
